This is my main rom now.

A couple things I think would be nice are:
A better dialer & swype.

I've grown use to swype and would rather stay away from their beta plan. I have an older vers that works, only does anyone have a link for the electric current stock evo swype apk?

Try GoContacts for a amend dialer and the new three.0 beta of Swype is much nicer than the two.10 versions in my opinion. This should remain an AOSP rom and for folks that want to bundle more options they can do that themselves.

I concord virtually using the Swype beta. I've been using it for over three months and haven't seen whatsoever downsides over the one packaged with the Sense ROMs.

As to the requests to include Swype (or whatsoever other copyrighted app) in the ROM, devs can't legally include information technology in their AOSP ROMs without the proper licenses. This is the aforementioned reason we have to flash the gapps separately and why the gapps don't actually include the apps themselves (other than the Market), only links to where they tin be downloaded. Cyanogen got into legal trouble with Google for including their apps in CyanogenMod and the current system of the separate gapps file was a compromise then that people using his ROM could actually get the Market place and take a fully functional ROM. Virtually Sense ROMs can get away with including these things because they are just modified versions of the stock ROM and HTC obtained the proper licenses. Swype, for instance, is included in the stock ROM, and then devs building ROMs that use that equally a base of operations can include it. And so while AOSP ROMs are free of extraneous apps and every user can customize their device with simply the apps that they want, it has as much to do with licensing as it does with a desire to go along them fast, slim, and close to stock.

Does everyone utilise the stock kernel for this rom?

I've tried them all and have come back to the stock (included) kernel considering for me information technology is fast, trouble free, and has the best bombardment life. All of the others have given me small to major troubles: anything from instability (FC or random reboots) to inexplicable battery drain via runaway CPU, and and so on. I'chiliad sticking with the included kernel from at present on and won't even be trying the others any more. I feel like I've tried each of them for at least ii versions each and they don't stand up upwards to the kernel included in this ROM.

That's my .02. Just realize that anybody seems to have/get different results because I've heard good things from various people about <insert-any-kernel-here>.

P.Southward. I've actually measured battery usage with these kernels, measuring current describe for a full day and then averaging the numbers. This kernel gives me an boilerplate electric current draw in the upper 80's (87 - 90mA) while all the rest never run across below about 101mA and they average in the low 100's.

How exercise I go dorsum to stock?
I've tried them all and have come back to the stock (included) kernel because for me it is fast, trouble costless, and has the best battery life. All of the others accept given me small to major troubles: anything from instability (FC or random reboots) to inexplicable battery drain via delinquent CPU, and then on. I'm sticking with the included kernel from now on and won't even be trying the others any more. I feel like I've tried each of them for at to the lowest degree two versions each and they don't stand up to the kernel included in this ROM.

That'due south my .02. Simply realize that anybody seems to accept/go different results because I've heard adept things from various people nigh <insert-whatever-kernel-here>.

I agree about using the Swype beta. I've been using it for over iii months and oasis't seen any downsides over the 1 packaged with the Sense ROMs.

As to the requests to include Swype (or any other copyrighted app) in the ROM, devs tin't legally include it in their AOSP ROMs without the proper licenses. This is the same reason we accept to flash the gapps separately and why the gapps don't actually include the apps themselves (other than the Market place), but links to where they tin can exist downloaded. Cyanogen got into legal trouble with Google for including their apps in CyanogenMod and the current system of the separate gapps file was a compromise and so that people using his ROM could actually become the Marketplace and take a fully functional ROM. Most Sense ROMs can go abroad with including these things because they are just modified versions of the stock ROM and HTC obtained the proper licenses. Swype, for example, is included in the stock ROM, so devs building ROMs that use that equally a base tin include it. So while AOSP ROMs are free of inapplicable apps and every user can customize their device with but the apps that they desire, information technology has as much to do with licensing as it does with a desire to keep them fast, slim, and shut to stock.

Very concise explanation sir. Now I understand. I take since dl'd the swype beta and information technology is an awesome upgrade.

Hi,
I remember this is best AOSP 2.iii.4 rom for EVO 4G right now.
I flashed GoDm0dE-v9 but then got a reboot every time I switched cameras.. File is not corrupted because is same I utilise on CM7 nightly #101.
Tiamat_Evo-v4.0.5 works perfect. I checked calls, camera, video, etc. I restored all my apps with Titanium, no even 1 FC. I accept GoLAuncherEx, SetCPU, Jorte, etc.
Speed is excellent!!!
GPS was not working well on CM7 nightly #101, but I did not fixed information technology, I just wiped all, installed gingerbread-evo-deck-one.2y, gapps-evo-20110611 in same session, rebooted, settings, become to RA 2.3 again, flashed kernel, rebooted, restored my apps. GPS seems to be working OK without whatever gear up but I volition make a full test in a trip today.
Thank you very much.

Thanks.

Does anyone know where to get the stock/original kernel??

Stock original for what? This rom?
Easy : wipe cache, dalvik cache, reflash rom.
You now have the kernel that comes with rom.
Stock original meaning the i sprint OTA comes with, won't piece of work on this rom.

So the Sprint/HTC kernel in the official GB stock ROM won't work with deck's ROM?

Can I install deck's kernel without reflashing the unabridged ROM?

The stock/original kernel for Deck's ROM is the CyanogenMod kernel. Where did you lot find the download for the kernel simply though, knoc? Simply curious because I oasis't seen information technology around and couldn't seem to find it with a v minute search.

Can I install deck'south kernel without reflashing the entire ROM?

NO it will non work, Sprint is with sense, this rom is AOSP.
They are Non compatible.
You can install the kernel that comes with this rom IF there were a link to just kernel.
